Compact RFID
What is RFID?
R adio F requency ID entification, or RFID, is a generic term for technologies that use radio waves to automatically identify people or objects. There are several methods of identification, but the most common is to store a serial number that identifies a person or object, and perhaps other information, on a microchip that is attached to an antenna (the chip and the antenna together are called an RFID transponder or an RFID tag). The antenna enables the chip to transmit the identification information to a reader. The reader converts the radio waves reflected back from the RFID tag into digital information that can then be passed on to computers that can make use of it.
What are some of the most common applications for RFID?
RFID is used for everything from tracking cows and pets to triggering equipment down oil wells. It may sound trite, but the applications are limited only by people's imagination. The most common applications are tracking goods in the supply chain, reusable containers, high value tools and other assets, and parts moving to a manufacturing production line. RFID is also used for security (including controlling access to buildings and networks) and payment systems that let customers pay for items without using cash.
Where does Compact Labeling Systems fit in?
In Australia the common ID device is called Source Tags, these provide security but do not offer the logistic capability of the RFID. RFID and Source tags are attached to products in the form of a label, this label can be applied by using customized Compact Labeling Systems applicators - please contact us and discuss your requirement NOW.

njoi - Oils Ain't Oils
When Oilpack Australia was engaged to bottle the high quality range
of of 'njoi' and 'Red Island' extra virgin olive oil for
EVOO Australia Pty Ltd (a subsidiary of Piquant Blue Ltd, Australia's
leading public listed olive oil marketing Company), they considered
it extremely important to have a high quality presentation. Investigating
the machinery required for such a product led them to talk to the
leading producers of label applicators in Australia.
Mike Konowalous, Managing Director of Oilpack Australia said; "To
produce a successful, quality product like njoiand
Red Island extra virgin olive oil, you must first have an excellent
product. It then requires hard work and a strong belief in your
product. It is with this conviction that in 2003 the range of njoi
Olive Oil won a number of Australian and international awards
and widespread critical acclaim. It was this same belief in their
product and the quality of the machinery that we saw in Compact
Labeling Systems. After talking to existing users and to Compact
themselves we decided that the Compact
Combination Front/Back/Wrap (FBxx) was the machine that best
suited our needs."
The njoi Olive Oil
is produced in a tall 500ml round glass bottle with a two piece vinyl
label with the bottom label having a 40% overlap. The Red Island Olive
Oil is produced in a square bottle, with vinyl labels, the back label
a tall thin label applied to one side of the bottle, the front label
is applied to the front and extends down the sides by 25%. Both bottles
can be labeled on the Compact Combination
Front/Back/Wrap (FBxx) . Compact can provide automatic or semi-automatic
machines to apply labels to either of the above bottle styles.

Compact 600 - Simple Control System
A Testimonial from Another Happy Compact Customer
The name Maggie Beer is synonymous with quality gourmet product. To
get to the quality desired
, requires that every step in the process to be of the highest standard
possible. This is why when our old Compact
800 labeller reached a stage where it was uneconomical
to repair; I called on some expert advice.
Andrew Builder from Adelaide provided our link into Compact Labelling Systems and the brief was to provide a no nonsense machine that was cost efficient, simple to use, and easy to set up and maintain to replace the old Compact 800.
Compact Labelling Systems designed and built our new machine and
called it the Compact
600. It features a one speed knob, a two line display, a simple
label scanning solution and a few variables for operational settings. The
Compact 600 is simplicity
itself.
Compact obviously listened to what I had said and designed the machine accordingly.
It really does the job that it was designed to do, and my staff are happy that it takes little or no time to get up and running.
I congratulate Compact on a job well done.

CSL - Carton Security Labeler
With TGA rules indicating that cartoned product be sealed with a tamper evident
label, Compact is first again with the new CSL
( Carton Security Labeler) capable of wrapping a label around
two edges of a carton, the CSL
makes labeling easy.
A white nylon guide at the back of the table top provides a smooth product support ensuring every application is in the same place. By simply swiping the product across the table top from left to right (can be set for right to left operation), the tamper evident label is applied smoothly and quickly.
Factory tests have shown the CSL applicator to
be more than 3 times faster than applying labels by hand. Not just
faster but much more consistent, with a positive application every
time.

Unique Water - Unique Solution
One of the most competitive markets today is the bottled water industry. To be a success you must be efficient, and when the manufacturers of Unique Water wanted to become more productive they turned to Compact.
The success of the Unique Water product had placed an unprecedented amount of pressure on the existing old Compact labeler already running at up to 140 bottles per minute.
Unique Water approached Compact who was able to introduce their ' Compact
WVT ' offering Zero Down Time, which featured two labeling heads
and the powerful Compact controller.
The New Compact WVT machine, with its
own conveyor section and built-in side transfer capability, stands
complete and can be put in or off line in minutes. The old labeler
that this machine has replaced was an add-on unit, located beside
the existing conveyor and there was no adjustment to allow conveyor
and labeler to co-ordinate easily and quickly.
With WVT machines already installed
(worldwide) running at over 300 per minute; the speed increase,
the Non-Stop (No stopping of the line when a new roll of self-adhesive
labels is loaded) capability and the ease of locating the machine
anywhere along the line (or on any line) in minutes resulted in
an increase in productivity that was beyond the customers expectation.
Although the industry has seen similar machines that offer a design concept which may fit under the umbrella of zero downtime, Compact believes it is the only designer and manufacturer of a labeling machine which can be guaranteed not to miss a bottle while switching over from one roll of labels to the next.
The claim means that the elimination of downtime is certain and there is no stopping of the bottling line. On a high speed line that could equate to the saving of an estimated 1-1? hours in a 24 hour working period.

The "Clovely Estate Wines" Success Story
In today's increasingly competitive marketplace a product's image is a major factor in gaining market share. To stand out on the crowded bottle shop shelves, wine labels must communicate to the consumer engendering confidence and quality in the product contained within. Therefore the requirement for high quality labeling cannot be understated as it is a virtual ¡®front door' to potential sales.
After having their new label design printed - Clovely sourced a contract labeller to label their wine bottles for them. The bottle, a standard ACI cylindrical claret bottle was to have 4 labels applied - 3 on the front and one back. The labels are printed on clear - no label look material and are to produce a stunning package for the export market. After having one run ruined with air entrapment, wrinkles and folded edges, Clovely approached Compact for a solution.
Compact firstly proved the quality of application, then to enhance the package,
recommended a change to the labels knife shape, making them more
suitable for automatic application and less prone to air-entrapment
. Clovely was so impressed with Compacts' professional approach,
understanding of the requirement and application quality they purchased
the Compact 3R2 to label
in-house.
The Compact 3R2 Labeler is capable
of applying labels to wine bottles up to 1.5L, with orientation
labeling also possible. The functionality of this labeler allows
Clovely the flexibility to add various information to the bottle
including import back labels and medals with precision.
Compact offer a range of wine bottle labelers from sturdy
bench top units that are fully upgradeable to automatic in-line
or stand alone systems, right through to rotary
labelers capable of multiple label application at high speed.
Compact are pleased to say that the export shipment of quality Clovely wine was dispatched on time , to a quality that exceeded Clovelys' expectation and that Clovely Estate Wines has become another Compact devotee .
